What is your Occupation?
I teach 8th grade science at North Davis Jr. High
The few, rare moments when I have free time are usually devoted to sleeping, but I also enjoy nerdy stuff like Marvel, Comicon, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, etc. I also proudly admit to avidly playing Pokémon Go…
Tell WCF something we don’t know about you?
I come from a family of cattle ranchers. Breaks from school are often spent helping on my Grandparents angus cattle ranch in Robertson, WY.
When did you start Cross Fitting?
What do you like most about WCF?
Amazing coaches, making new friends, and having something that adds variety to my daily routines. And Yoga is amazing too!
What was your 1st CrossFit workout?
The only thing that I remember about it was that it involved something like 3 rounds of 200 yds of walking lunges, and I had never done them before in my life…I couldn’t walk for days afterwards.
In what ways has CrossFit changed your life?
I’ve learned that I can mentally push myself to do hard things and make myself step outside my comfort zone, which is a big deal for me.
Coach Amy U. used to do some Tabata-style workouts that I thought were super fun. Although I think a truly amazing workout would have a power nap programmed somewhere in the middle, but I have yet to see the day when that happens…
Least Favorite Workout/movement?
Thursters, Wallballs, evil-wheels
Any advice you would give to newbies?
1) Always record your scores/reps/weights…etc. Because there will be days when you don’t feel like you are getting anywhere, and it helps to look back and realize what progress you have made.
2) I like to look up tomorrow’s workout in advance, but I had to set a rule for myself that I can’t choose not to do a workout just because it looks hard. If a workout looks miserable, it is probably the workout that you need to do most.
