Today we get to play around with another 1 rep max, this time a more fun lift than just a back squat. Today technique will come into play with how well you do. Some people can tend to “muscle” the power clean and get some pretty heavy numbers. Today our focus should be dropping underneath the bar as it gets heavier, remember as long as you catch it above parallel, it’s a power clean.
Take a look at the video below and watch the clean on the far left. Notice how he still jumps and hits full hip extension before he ever worries about getting under it. Then notice how he meets the bar at the highest point, doesn’t take his feet wider to get under it, just drops under it as the weight gets heavier, this is what we want to accomplish today! Hopefully we can get it done and come out with some new PR’s! You can fast forward to about 1:30
