"Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch."

-Coach Greg Glassman, founder of CrossFit-

This statement, taken from coach G's famous "World-Class Fitness in 100 Words", is exactly what you should expect when you attend a Wasatch Barbell Club class. He is absolutely correct. These movements will increase your fitness and ability to control a barbell. Weightlifting movements will also increase your ability to control your own body. The benefits of barbell training are numerous, these are the top few: increased coordination, increased flexibility, increased strength, increased speed, increased power, and decreased rate of injury from receiving and expending large forces.
Coach G is doubly right in that there is a need for practice and training. There is a lot more to weightlifting than meets the eye. Our background of experience in national level competition combined with coaching a diverse population of athletes means we have drills and training methods for every individual. Wasatch Barbell Club continually programs cyclically 12 weeks ahead of time. However, the posted workout is merely a guideline. Drills and exercises are modified to meet the needs of every individual class attendee, exactly like a normal CrossFit class!
Like coach Glassman says, practice makes perfect! Jump right into a Wasatch Barbell Club class and begin your journey to improved fitness through weightlifting!
