I love CrossFit competitions:  People giving their all, pushing their limits, and striving for that spot on the podium.  While loving all of this I also remember the early days of CrossFit when competing was about getting together with a group of friends and having some fun, maybe even drinking a beer when you’re done.  This is the spirit of our annual New Year’s Throwdown.  It’s cheap to enter, there’s no podium or sexy t-shirt, it’s about coming together and getting that one last PR to finish out the year with friends and having some serious fun.  Here are the details on this year’s comp:

When:  Dec 31st.  Heats will run at 9am, 11am, 1pm, and 3pm.

Where:  50 teams will be at Wasatch CrossFit and there will be 25 slots at both Ute CrossFit – Draper and CrossFit Dixie in St George.

How Much:  $20 per team of 2

What:  Teams must be comprised of a guy & girl

Who:  Anyone is welcome.  The events are listed below.  Scaling is fine, we’re here to have fun.

Event 1:  21, 15, 9 Deadlifts/Hand Release pushups.  21, 15, 9 Power Cleans/Team Med-ball Situps.  21, 15, 9 Thrusters/Pullups

Rx:  95/63 For Thruster, 135/93 for Power Cleans, 185/135 for Deadlifts.

This WOD has a 10 minute cutoff.  You can divide the work any way you want but only 1 barbell can be moving at a time.  Pullups can be any style including one partner holding the other partners feet.

Event 2a:  Max Effort Split Jerk from behind the neck

Event 2b:  Max consecutive back squats with 2a weight in :30 (Score is total number of lbs squatted i.e. reps x load)
