Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you're wondering about starting CrossFit in Layton — answered straight.

What should I wear to my first CrossFit class?

Anything comfortable you can move in: athletic shorts or leggings, a t-shirt, and flat-soled training shoes or regular sneakers. Bring a water bottle. You don't need special gear — no lifting shoes, belts, or grips required to start.

What is a first class at Wasatch CrossFit like?

Before your first class you'll do a Free Intro — a 15–20 minute sit-down with a coach to talk about your goals. In your first class, the coach walks you through the warm-up, teaches the day's movements, and scales the workout to your level. You'll never be left guessing what to do.

I'm out of shape. Do I need to get fit before starting CrossFit?

No. Every workout scales to your current ability — your coach adjusts the weights, movements, and intensity so it's challenging for you, not impossible. Most of our members had never done CrossFit before they walked in.

Can I do CrossFit with an injury or old nagging pain?

In most cases, yes. Tell your coach during the Free Intro — we'll work around injuries with movement substitutions and appropriate loading. Many members train through and past old injuries with smart scaling. When in doubt, check with your doctor first.

Do you have childcare?

Yes — Wasatch CrossFit is one of the only gyms in Layton with on-site childcare, included with Unlimited memberships. Childcare runs during the busiest morning and evening class windows so parents can train consistently.

What is your drop-in policy for visiting CrossFitters?

Experienced CrossFitters visiting the area are welcome to drop in for $20 per class. Show up a few minutes early, introduce yourself to the coach, and jump in.

Is there parking at the gym?

Yes — we have free on-site parking right off Highway 193. Evening classes are our busiest window, so arrive a few minutes early for the best spots.

How is Wasatch CrossFit different from a big-box gym like VASA?

A big-box gym gives you access to equipment; Wasatch gives you coaching. Every class is led by a certified coach who teaches, corrects, and programs your training so you actually progress. You'll also know everyone's name — accountability is what makes people stay consistent. It costs more than a big-box membership because it includes professional coaching every single visit.

How much does a membership cost?

Memberships run $149–$299 per month depending on the plan, with no long-term contracts. Military, first responder, and student discounts are available. See the pricing page for full details.

What are your class times?

We run 40+ coached classes per week: weekday classes at 5:00, 6:00, 9:00, and 10:00 AM plus evening classes from 4:30 PM, and Saturday mornings. See the class schedule page for the full timetable.
